The Importance Of Friendships.~ Blog Entry #4

Being a solo traveler is undoubtedly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

That being said I think it’s important for any person traveling to always remember that the positive experiences you gain, far outweigh the negative.

I have encountered several hurdles along the way so far. Most of which have been put in place by people I have met.

It’s safe to say that you have to be very careful who you befriend whilst traveling.

You really do need to have your wits about you.

Friends can very quickly become enemies and people you thought you’d never in a million years befriend, become the best friends you could ever wish for.

I’ve met people that have taken my good nature for granted, However! I’ve also met some of the most amazing people too.

Whether it’s someone offering to show me around a new place, someone just taking to me because I’m alone… or someone who takes a stick for a day and brings it back the following day unscathed to prove they’re a trustworthy friend. (Rebirth of the trust stick)

Nic returning the ‘trust stick’ (cairns esplanade)

Had I never met all these different kinds of people then I would never have learnt that at 30 years of age, I still have a lot to learn about people, myself and what a friend actually is and what a friend actually does.

One thing I have realised is that although I don’t often keep in contact with my friends…

I am actually a very good friend to people. I am always there if ever a friend is in need, if only with an ear to lend. However the biggest thing I have noticed is that I have never done something for anyone (especially friends or family) just to receive a thank you.

Everything I do and have ever done, I have done because it’s the right thing to do and makes me feel good about myself to know that I have selflessly helped someone in need.

Anyone thinking of traveling should consider the following…

Be very careful who you befriend.

Be very careful who you allow into your circle.

Be very careful who you trust.

Don’t loan people money.

Finally always do the right thing.

Take risks, don’t judge people on first impressions and always make friends with people you consider to be weird, weird is good.

It’s important to have at least one good friend, that one person you can go to with any issue. One that you can confide in and know that you can trust.

No one should ever feel they have no one to turn to, if you feel you are alone and unsure what to do then please CLICK HERE and I’ll contact you with help… or just some friendly advice.
