Studies show that the percentage of the worlds population following religion is around 90%, this is arguably an inaccurate claim given the fact that the percentage of the worlds population following no religion is also on the rise. Consider also, the number people who claim to be religious but are not practicing their religion.
I’m atheist and have never entertained the idea of following any religion, I’m happy with the direction I’ve given my life and happy to answer only to myself. I never speak of this subject but I believe it’s important I do for this post.
People who practice religion are regularly given guidance, clarity, purpose and validation. Although I’m an atheist, I understand that those things are important for anyone and that some Mild Mental Health Conditions, can be traced back to a lack of them.
There is one simple thing you can do to give yourself Guidance, Clarity, Purpose and Validation, which is to focus on your personal core values.
Core Values are essentially your Moral Compass, they help to define your character and give you a purpose in society. Not all core values are chosen, some are instilled in you from being raised as a child. The ones you are able to choose a very important,it’s best to understand what they mean and how each one could help you be you.
Here are some examples of core values from which you may wish to choose:

I have core values that have not been chosen such as Discipline, Respect, Pride & Integrity and then others which I change from time to time to keep things interesting.
This year I have chosen the acronym SWAGG to make up my personal core values. I will break down each one.
Sensitivity:I am hoping to make a conscious effort to be more aware of others and their wellbeing. I will offer help and advice to those who need it and will be sensitive to their needs.
Work/Life Balance:This year will be my second traveling Australia, I am here on a working holiday visa and intend to find more balance with regards to work and social life for the remainder of my time here.
Ascension:Ascension is a process of aligning with higher consciousness. It doesn’t happen instantly or automatically, but rather ascension happens incrementally, as we increase our knowledge through experiences one step at a time. Ascension is knowingly taking a step into that which is unknown with no knowledge of the outcome, with no deterrence.
Growth:My hope is for personal growth as well as professional growth, by which I mean that it would be great to grow this site to the potential I know it has. I learn new things everyday and hope to implement that in both my personal life and into this site.
Guidance:The gift of guidance, often it’s a good idea to allow others to learn from their own mistakes. However if it’s obvious that person is struggling with a path you’ve already crossed then why not help them. After all, a problem shared is a problem halved. If I can help only one person, then I know I’m heading in the right direction.
